Trinity is Making Learning Accessible by offering students an innovative online study environment that is convenient and user friendly. Online courses bring students together in a learning community led by an instructor who is an expert in the field of study. The interactive nature of this online community makes the learning experience enjoyable, often leading to lasting friendships with fellow learners.
Bachelor students can complete the program of study over a period of 18 months (if an associate degree of 60 semester credit hours was completed previously, and 12 hours of portfolio credit for prior learning can be documented). All courses are held in online classrooms consisting of eight weeks of weekly readings and online discussions, followed by four additional weeks for the completion of any remaining assignments. Two online courses are taken during each eight week period of study, with four terms completed in the first twelve months, and two terms completed in the following six months. Each online course is equivalent to four semester credit hours. The 60 credit hours of the program are broken down as follows:
·
48 hours – online course credit over 18 months (6 terms; two 4 hour courses each term)
·
12 hours – credit for prior learning (or credit by examination or additional courses taken)
Students without an associate degree of 60 semester credit hours will need to complete additional courses of bachelor level study (the 60 semester hours must include at least 30 hours in general education studies). Thus all graduates of the bachelor of arts will have a minimum of 120 semester credit hours completed through previous transcripted learning (e.g., an associate degree), the online courses in the program, portfolio credit for prior learning, credit by examination (CLEP, Bible Knowledge Assessment, etc.), and/or other bachelor level studies.
Course Terms
Online courses consist of 8 weeks of weekly reading and online discussions followed by 4 additional weeks for the completion of any remaining assignments [month noted between square brackets]. Online courses begin the first Tuesday of a month.
Online courses are offered in four terms a year. Each term in a cycle consists of a unit of two courses of 4 semester credit hours each for a total of 6 terms (18 months; 48 semester credit hours). Twelve hours of portfolio credit, credit by examination, and/or additional courses (if needed) can be completed concurrent with or after all terms have been completed. Students can start the program of study in any term:
